THE CAMPUS ROMANCE CYCLE THAT TURNED INTO DEATH CYCLE.

Story by: Philip Ouma.

Most people must have at one time tasted the impact of being in a relationship which later was characterized by betrayal and heartbreak.Once in a lifetime; one may cross all his/her limits for someone he or she loves unconditionally , he or she sacrifices his or her time and effort. They both go out of their comfort zones just to protect their strong feelings of love and affection for one another; but later on, the unexpected scenario may take place in their relationship .As witnessed in the recent days, this is apparently common among the University Students.

Recently, police were in the hunt for two  male students from Tecchnical University of Mombasa who were spotted in a viral video beating up their colleague , over allegations that he was involved in a love affair with one of the culprits girlfriend.Read more from:nairobinews.nation.co.ke. This is one of the evident cases among others.

Mary( not her real name); an Alumni  of  University Of Nairobi; still remembers her fate with her late husband with whom they started dating while still in campus .They vowed to carry out a wedding immediately after their graduation from the campus.

That morning Mary hurriedly arranged the clothes of her late husbands' wardrobe. At that moment,Mary came across this letter , stuffed in one of his coats pockets. The letter was written in English and the message in it was straight to the point. The addressors' name  captured her interest and made her suspicious , Liza; the name of the same lady who shot her husband before killing herself on her wedding day.

Maybe, this letter  was going to answer a series of  unanswered questions concerning Michaels' death. She was in the dark.

The letter read,''Michael, I know that you are going to wed with another woman on 13th December this year. Be aware that you have to pay for the pain you've caused me.

You have decided to lie to me,all the money I used in taking care of you,the job that I bought you using my own money and the parcel of land that you changed into your name when I went to United States were all in vain. This is how you have decided to reward me! You decided to pay my gracious deeds with lies, conmanship and outright thuggery. I'll not live in squalor and see you enjoy my wealth with another woman even after winning the case in court.I'm bringing a present for the two of us on our wedding day . It will be our day Sweetheart.Liza.''

Then Mary freshly remembered everything about that day; the music immediately , the jubilation freezed and unimaginable confusion reigned the occasion . The song ' Harus pek kamasira'  which graced the eardrums , sporadically got conquered by gunshots and wailing.Everyone scampered for safety and not even the security personel at the venue could wait.

What was meant to be an event of love and happiness turned out to be an arena of revenge and sadness, blood and foundation of sombre memories . It marked the beginning of undeniable long suffering and unanswered questions.

Mary became a widow on her wedding day. Liza had shot Michael on the chest before  committing suicide. It was a crime of love and betrayal , a crime of passion and denial. Another woman had succeeded to win Michaels' love; looted property they invested together and was planning a wedding with another woman.

This story is enough for the campus students to learn that ; true relationships can only succeed and be successful if the individuals in a relationship agree and accept to be honest, trust themselves and understand one another.
